What is a Monitrice?
A postpartum monitrice is very similar to a doula in that her primary role is to provide postpartum support. Just like a doula, a monitrice offers continuous emotional and physical support to families during the postpartum period. Unlike a doula, a monitrice is certified or licensed and has a higher scope of practice allowing her to perform clinical assessments such as assessing mom’s vital signs, weighing baby, and breastfeeding support.
About Me
Maiden to Motherhood was founded out of the desire to provide the
highest quality and most personalized postpartum and newborn care
available for low risk childbearing people.
I grew up in Europe where the philosophy is to continue to nurture the mother(at home) after she leaves the hospital.
Having worked as a doula for 10 years, as well as a first responder and midwifery assistant, I decided to put my expertise and knowledge to use and bring this philosophy over to the Wood River Valley.
It is my goal to support you throughout postpartum journey and to know your story, the story of your family, and to be familiar with the space that you call home.
I believe strongly in the importance of informed decision-making as well as in the physiologically normal nature of postpartum itself.
My care is approached from a basic perspective, first by focusing on the fundamental factors that influence a family's life - food they eat, how and how frequently they move their bodies, the quality of rest they are able to achieve, and the ways in which they cultivate emotional well-being (both individually and collectively).
I see it as a privilege to be invited into the inner world of my
clients during this important time of transition. I value your trust and am always open to guidance and feedback, as both of these help me continue to grow as a provider and as a person.
It would be great to get to know you, your family, and how you envision your postpartum care.
